Gigantic Mugumo Trees Grow From Tiny Seedlings!

Like many churches in Africa, the Jellys FMC has started under a mango tree. Pastor Josephat Michael Ntampaka, the deputy National Superintendent of the Free Methodist Church in Tanzania visits the people who live near the Jellys School and shares the Word of God with them. He then invites them to join him on Sunday under the mango tree for worship. Attendance varies each Sunday. On a sunny morning he can have up to twenty people. On a rainy day like yesterday he ends up with less than 10 people in the worship service. For him, it is not the numbers that matter but his faithfulness to his calling! Like the gigantic Mugumo trees that grow from tiny seedlings, the Jellys FMC hopes to grow and become a "gigantic" church in future!

Joshua & William attend Leadership seminar.

Outgoing leader of the Maasai FMC William Joseph Ole Oongowarak and the new leader Joshua Ole Ngelin were among the 20 leaders of the Free Methodist Church in Tanzania who attended a one-week leadership seminar that was held in Mwanza. Leadership lessons from the letters of Paul to Timothy and Titus were explored.

It is never too late to learn.

For Latang Lendemi, Ongoswe Tesi and Naranta Barimba life will never be the same again. They are serious students. They want to know how to read and write their names. They want to be able to write to their friends back in Longido. But above everything else, they want to be able to read their Bibles. Because of these reasons they come to class everyday!

MAASAI FMC GETS A NEW LEADER!

Joshua Ole Ngelin was today installed as the new leader of the Maasai FMC. He takes over from William Joseph Ole Oongowarak who is going to Kalemera Empowering Lives International to learn the Word of God and some vocational skills.
Joseph Musuma Marwa, a third year Free Methodist student at the Nassa Theological College will be with the Maasai FMC for the next two and a half months. He will be doing his "term out" practical work.

He is Risen!

The LSFM celebrated the resurrection of Christ in style. The members sung songs from all the ethnic groups that were represented. Poems were recited and a skit was presented by the youth. All these had one theme--Jesus Christ is risen!



After the worship service the children were served with food!!!!!!!!!!

Kisesa FMC-Still going Strong!

On Wednesday 12th this month I managed to visit the Kisesa FMC to see how they were progressing. I found the wife of our lay Pastor, Benedicto havinga Bible study session with a few members of the church. They narrated to me how the rains had caused havoc in their area and destroyed crops. Many farmers are having to work on their farms again hoping that the rains will not repeat the destruction.

The Kisesa FMC meets in a house that is thatched with reeds on the inside and grass on top.About 22 adults meet for worship on a normal Sunday morning.

Liberty Institute Holds A Leadership Seminar in Mwanza.

The Liberty Institute of Tanzania in conjunction with the Sapphire Leadership Group of the USA organized and held a very successful seminar in Mwanza, Tanzania between April 3rd -6th. The main facilitator of the seminar, Arthur Burk, explored the theme " How a Leader Changes Values" with the participants to the maximum. The seminar participants really appreciated Bro. Burk's vast knowledge in many academic fields and requested that he returns to Tanzania again to teach them more.

The seminar was graced and opened officially by the Mwanza Regional Commissioner, Dr. Peter Toima Kiroya.

The Leadership seminar organized by the Liberty Institute in conjuction with the Sapphire group of USA came to a very successful close on Thursday evening. The seminar was closed by Father Renatus Nkwande who represented Bishop Anthony Mayala of the Catholic Arch-diocese of Mwanza.

FMBC's FIRST GRADUANTS

The FMBC class of 2002-2006 celebrating after finishing their final exams last Friday.


The FMBC teachers and students of the 2002- 2006 class in their final worship/celebration service. The farewell sermon was delivered by Rev. Dave Shuit, the Regional Representative of the Africa Inland Mission. He preached from Isaiah 10. He called on them not to fear because God is with them."So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 10

Geita- The Spirit of God is Moving!

Micah 7:7 "But as for me, I watch in hope for the LORD, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me."

Pastor Conrad Edmund today shared from the book of Micah 7:7. He called on his parishoners to wait on the Lord under all circumstances.

After the sermon, six people came forward to be prayed for. Praise God for the Geita FMC.

Victory! Victory! Victory!

Matthew 11:12 "From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it."
There was jubilation in the LSFM today when Evelyn stood up and testified of the glorious victory that she has received ever since Jesus took control of her life. She challenged all of us to identify our enemy, put on the right armor and go out to attack his strongholds lest he does the same to God's kingdom.

Mr. Bihemo, in the white vest, is willing to lease his property to the Maasai FMC so that a "temporary" church building may be put up and used by the Maasai FMC.

The Challenge by the YWAM Team Has Awakened Us!

Heidi Reid challenged the LSFM members to be what the Lord has created them to be and nothing less. They should not allow any misfortune, challenge or Satan to make them miss the blessings from the Lord.
At the close of the worship service, all the YWAM team members joined the LSFM in the celebrations outside the church by singing and shaking hands.
What bigger gift can someone give to a Maasai warrior than the Word of life. Justin Reid presented the Maasai warriors who could read and write with Swahili Bibles and urged them to read and become like the mighty warrior, Jesus Christ, who came and died to save all of mankind from eternal hell. His death on the cross made it possible for all those who receive salvation to have eternal life!

Farewell Worship Service for YWAM with the Maasai FMC.

William's daughter, Naserian, was among those who turned out to bid farewell to the YWAM team from UK.
Excited and happy that they had been honored by three visists from the YWAM team, the Maasai FMC members sung their hearts out and cheered as their colleagues jumped to the tunes from the Maasai morans.

Proud owners of Kiswahili Bibles lined up for a photo after proving to the rest that they could read their Bibles adequately. A challenge has been put forward to more Maasais to learn how to read and write so that they may be presented with Bibles!
